School is starting earlier and earlier these days. And I’ve noticed, other agents of change that have no connection to school are also moving towards “autumn” in August, as if they are following the ridiculous trend of school coming in and cutting summer vacation off weeks before Labor Day, when it’s still too hot to sit in a classroom and too early to even think about Halloween.
For instance, yesterday I noticed a truckload of scented pinecones outside my local grocery store. Who needs a pinecone that smells like the winter holidays when they’re months and months away? I know I don’t want to think about chestnuts roasting on an open fire when it’s 80 degrees outside.
I’m planning to still dress like summer, even when school begins for me this week – and that includes sandals, of course! So I needed a trendy back-to-school pedi to match.
I still have a foot tan…so it should still be summer break, right?
This design in primary colors is meant to evoke a scholastic feel, while also following the rules of nail fashion with stylish stripes on the big toes and a reverse French design on the rest.
This was my first attempt at a reverse French, and it turned out a little messy. But one of the first things they teach you in school is to “learn from your mistakes,” and “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” So it’s all good.
I can’t decide whether the reverse French on the smaller toenails creates more definition – or if it looks like I have gross dirty nails. What do you think?
What’s your summer back-to-school style?
